We are excited to announce our investment in Mercurie a company on a mission to simplify software payments for businesses across the continent.
Mercurie is solving a critical problem: enabling companies across the continent to easily pay for Cloud, Ad, and SaaS tools in local currency, all from one platform.
We had a chat with Ayode Akinfemiwa, Co-founder and CEO of Mercurie, to talk about the journey so far, what drives them, and what’s next.
Mercurie was created because we saw that African businesses were not taking full advantage of the internet's potential due to obstacles such as payment, cost, know-how etc. I had witnessed how some of the continent's largest companies struggled with technology adoption, and international solutions were not always well suitable for our market.
As of today, paying for some Cloud, SaaS and Online advertising platforms as a business in Africa is very difficult and in some markets simply impossible. This means that businesses in those markets are unable to access and utilise these essential tools.
Mercurie is solving this problem of software payment and management. Essentially we’re making it easier and more efficient for businesses to pay for all their Cloud, Ad and SaaS subscriptions. That means being able to pay for these essential softwares in local currency, manage all your software cost efficiently and maximise return on your investment all from one platform.
Having worked at big tech companies for over a decade, I've seen firsthand how easily African businesses can fall behind due to simple issues like difficulties paying for softwares due to local market payment complexities etc. Ultimately we want to make sure that businesses across Africa are not excluded from the global technology revolution.
Really, the positive feedback we receive from customers about how we've simplified previously stressful payments is the most exciting part of our journey. It's also reassuring to hear that a new customer was referred by an existing one or signed up after reading a positive review, and this is what motivates us to continue. Also working with a team of talented and young people who are equally passionate about our mission and the continent is exciting.
This investment will allow us to invest in our technology and build our platform to deliver on the objective of simplifying software payment and financial operations for businesses across Africa. It will also allow us to invest in marketing and sales to acquire our next hundreds of customers.
In the coming months, our priorities are to solidify our platform and broaden the range of Cloud, Ad and SaaS services that can be paid for and managed with Mercurie. Additionally, we aim to substantially grow our revenue and position Mercurie as the go-to platform for all business software payment.
At Resilience17, we’re deeply aligned with Mercurie’s mission and proud to back their next chapter. Africa’s software-driven future must be accessible to every business — and Mercurie is building the infrastructure to make that happen.
We are proud to support founders building for Africa, with Africa.
